We are looking for an intern to support the communications team; a dynamic team player seeking to create editorial and news-media content. The successful candidate needs to have a background in communications, writing for media and other specific audiences. He/She will be familiar with the Web 2.0 world and will already have some proven experience in blog writing and social networking.
Responsibilities
Supporting the implementation of the EDF external and internal communication strategy; providing input for our monthly mailings
Writing news for the web and press releases, and proofread position papers;
Contributing to the creation, editing and management of accessible information through various communication tools (website, newsletter, publications, information packs, exhibition kit);
Updating EDF website, integrate online multimedia and liaise with service providers;
Updating all Web 2.0 tools such as Facebook, Twitter, seek new ways to increase EDF visibility; be curious about what the Web 3.0 has to offer;
Managing video and multimedia tools;
Daily media monitoring and research to feed in internal communication tools;
Supporting members’ relations management;
Updating EDF contacts database;
Supporting EDF campaigns and events;
Following-up projects, drafting minutes, when necessary.
Supporting the EDF identity project
Preparing executive meetings
Skills
The applicant must be a college or university education (BA or MA), preferably in Communications/Journalism / European studies education
Basic level of EU policy knowledge and understanding (however, note that this is not a position for policy experts);
Excellent writing skills in English (native speaker level), fluent in French; knowledge of another EU language is an asset;
Exquisite conversational skills to use with members and external stakeholders;
Good understanding of information architecture; Website ergonomics and accessibility skills;
Knowledge of Web 2.0, photo editors, Adobe Creative Suite, CMS environment; design and multimedia skills are an asset;
Experience in a busy international environment (e.g. internship inEU institutions, NGO, advertsising, consultancy and law firm, federation or company) is a plus;
Proven interest in Human Rights and social affairs.
Strong proactive and a -can do- attitude;
Out-going, sociable and flexible;
Cooperative working approach, team-player;
